  1. DL is still a legit top 25 team. It went about like I thought it would (I predicted a 42-14 score). IMG is in the upper elite category. Kudos for taking them on. Just don’t overlook Saraland next week. They won’t be a pushover.
  2. I just looked them up. I guess Chatt Cent. was pretty good. 3 or 4 state titles during the early 50s. Played Miami Senior and Jax Flagler during that stretch. Beat the GA champs one of those years.
  3. I know my uncle played for Chattanooga Central in the early to mid 50s. I think they played one of the Florida powers during that stretch. Chattanooga Central was very good back then.
  4. I can’t seem to find anything on Gainesville’s team in 1968. Alcoa finished 5-5 that year. Probably had no business playing an OOS bowl game that year.
  5. Yes, they made it quite clear that playing out of the area was not what they wanted. This was years ago, though, when the national scene was beginning to surge into what it is today. I used to post on CoachT quite a bit, but I was always more interested in the national scene. (I used to love competing in the Big Ones contest). Alcoa/Maryville is probably the best rivalry in East Tennessee, but the Tornadoes always seemed to step up more than Maryville when it came to scheduling tougher out-of-area teams.
  6. Oakland backed out because they knew what Lipscomb was going to turn into. They didn’t want to get embarrassed. I went round and round with some of the old timer Maryville guys years ago on CoachT. They were so old fashioned about only playing local area teams and were flat out against playing anyone OOS. I couldn’t get those dense boneheads to realize that Maryville was the flagship team for Tennessee and should try to venture out and test their mettle. They just didn’t get it. Alcoa, on the other hand, was, at least, scheduling some of the top small school Kentucky teams back then. If I remember correctly, they played Corbin,KY back in those days.
  7. Lipscomb’s all-star team is taking it to the next level with IMG. We’ll find out if they are nationally legit real quick. I like what McCallie and Baylor are doing this year. Alcoa could’ve scheduled a better out-of-state opponent than Tottenville,NY. (Union Co. is a local region game. Union Co. is in Maynardville,TN) The Tornadoes do have a tough in-state schedule, though. Oakland is playing Center Grove on the road up in Indiana. They get props for that game. I, too, am disappointed that BA and MBA aren’t playing any OOS comp. Maryville never takes on anyone from OOS. They are always too scared to do that.
  8. Looks like it’s the same for Milton. They usually have a tougher schedule. How high is Davies Western ranked in FL?
  9. Trinity could be an interesting game if the Shamrocks are any good this year (not sure what they have coming back). They are hit and miss every year….
  10. So, Bitchigan will play any national power outside of their Midwest region, but ONLY in the comfy confines of their home field. They won’t return the favor for whoever that team may be? Weak sauce!!
  11. Oakland did better this year taking a tough road game with Center Grove up in Indy. (Still mad they bitched out on Liberty,NV last year. Lol)
  12. Aren’t they playing Brentwood Academy this year? If so, that’s some big boys to deal with!
  13. Now I’m seeing that DL is playing at Saraland,AL in place of Thompson. So, the reigning big boy Bama state champs are scared of the Mustangs, but a lower class school has the balls to play them. Wow!
  14. Forgive my ignorance, the CIF won’t let them play IMG but they can play STA (also a recruited up private)? Also, they can play SFA, right? SFA and IMG are identical types of schools. If I’m wrong about SFA, I apologize.
  15. Cen10 is, definitely, a worthy top tier opponent. They’ve proven that over the years. The problem is that its Gorman’s only top tier game this year. They usually schedule 2-3 a year since Nevada doesn’t have any competition outside of Liberty every few years. Maybe they’re going to be down this year?
  16. Isn’t Corona Centennial coming to Vegas? Plus, you shouldn’t rank teams based solely on their schedules. That’s your glaring fault when it comes to rankings, my brother.
  17. Didn’t Lipscomb go to their place last year? Are they afraid to travel up to Nashville and play the return game?
  18. Two years ago a top 15 BC team routed a decent Hoban team en route to an undefeated NJ championship. Also, swept DBP along the way. BC was just that good that year. Richmond Benedictine, Woodberry Forest and the like are not ballers. Those were the best teams Trinity Episcopal played last year. Like I said, Hoban 49-7.
  19. I wouldn’t call the VA private a traditional power. Hoban 49-7.
