I see the Tornadoes pulled it out. Looks like it was a good game. They’ll meet again for all the marbles later. This was just the tuneup for the real game later.

I saw that someone started a post about Oakland over on CoachT. Stated that they are the best team in the state of Tennessee. I think McCallie and Baylor would have something to say about that. They might not even be the best public. I wouldn't be shocked if little ole Alcoa beat them.

It's hard to compare the public and private.  CPA crushed oakland last year (35-14) during a 8-6 season.  but yes, I think at least baylor and mccallie are better than oakland.  

it will be interesting to see how ravenwood does against oakland this weekend as they will be the opponent in common with alcoa.  im not sure alcoa could keep up with oakland but who knows?  I think they are special this year for sure.  maybe best team they have had that I am aware of.  I wish they would just play up and get it over with.

I think maryville/alcoa sounds like the best HSFB game in TN.  I need to get over there one day and check it out.

That CPA blowout last year was a headscratcher for me. 

Oakland/Ravenwood should be decent. Alcoa ripped them a new one earlier 35-14 (if I remember the score correctly), but that was the first game of the year for both teams. Ravenwood could've gelled into a much better team by now. I have no idea why Alcoa has remained in 3A all of these years. They could, at LEAST, move up one class for crying out loud! Lol. 

The Alcoa/Maryville rivalry is akin to Oakland/Riverdale not so long ago. Great games with a great atmosphere. My brother is a pastor down in that neck of the woods. I visit every year. When my vacation falls on that weekend I don't miss that game. When I was in high school (88-92, I know I'm old lol) Oak Ridge/Farragut was a good rivalry to go see.

Lol. I went to Tennessee Tech for one year (92-93) then joined the Air Force. That's how I ended up in Omaha.

yeah, I think oakland will have a bit of a test this week against riverdale then will roll.

not sad for alcoa.  playing tough teams (6A) week in and out would be a grind for them.

LA has mccallie next and they were down to knox catholic late in the 4th qtr and looked very beatable.  not sure we will rise to the occasion but knox catholic showed it can be done.

Each of the publics noted below need to start scheduling OOS teams annually to bolster their resumes.

resume for what?  most of them dont care about anything but state championships but oakland did play center grove this year which was a tough match up.
