probably smart. the TSSAA upheld our 2nd year of a playoff ban so I do not think this year will be a year to take on big challengers like that. not sure if kids are leaving or if any new ones are coming in during a year on probation.

is there an abbreviation guide for your message board? those of us who want to know more about HSFB around the country have no idea what HS you are referring to outside of the repeat offenders. that or typing the actual HS name might make this board easier to use (and feel welcoming).

I wouldnt mind them having a year to get their feet under them before jumping in like that against a true national power. yeah I was shocked by that game. not sure if you have seen but there has been a lot of pushback about alcoa winning 9 in a row but not being willing to move up a class or 2. hopefully they will get a success factor moving forward.

thanks for the vote of confidence. we got 2 years of post season ban which is not a good time to be hiring. additionally, baylor and mccallie are boarding schools that do not have to abide by the same rules on transfers and it shows for sure! im not sure I share your optimism but i'll take it!

it was a great game all the way around and probably the 2 best teams in the state...2 canadian all star teams going head to head. : ) it is a little hard to watch knowing our little school could have competed this year had dilfer not left or we had just hired better. with back to back coaching changes, I think it will be a while if we ever get back to beating one of these teams.

lots of chaos. LA just beat mccallie. down 28-7 at half, they scored 27 unanswered points. super sad for the seniors who are unable to play another game.

yeah the east TN homers think bradley is the state champ already. I expect oakland to right size them. bradley does have some talent this year but I think you are right about being a 1 hit wonder. bearden might depending on how long the coach sticks around. he's made waves in the past but is probably looking to get back into college coaching would be my bet.

great time to be in east TN!! should be beautiful colors. I think LA is savy enough not to think like that. I think if we had won either the saraland or baylor games (both very close and winnable) and not lost to a terrible MBA, I would have felt better. losing to MBA was really what makes me think it's a down season. lots of fun match ups for sure. whoever wins the bearden/bradley game will be crowned the state champ by the homers before the playoffs ever start! should be fun to watch!

you would have to ask them but I think lots of schools would rather be top dog in the state with a perfect record than lose to an OOS team. my guess only. how many teams in the top 25 are public anyway on average?

whats your prediction for mccalllie at LA?? lots of good TN games this week. region champions will be decided in these 6A games. riverdale at oakland bearden at bradley ravenwood at brentwood also, not sure if you saw but maryville knocked off alcoa at alcoa with a walk off field goal. lots of ruffled feathers.

yeah, I think oakland will have a bit of a test this week against riverdale then will roll. not sad for alcoa. playing tough teams (6A) week in and out would be a grind for them. LA has mccallie next and they were down to knox catholic late in the 4th qtr and looked very beatable. not sure we will rise to the occasion but knox catholic showed it can be done.

It's hard to compare the public and private. CPA crushed oakland last year (35-14) during a 8-6 season. but yes, I think at least baylor and mccallie are better than oakland. it will be interesting to see how ravenwood does against oakland this weekend as they will be the opponent in common with alcoa. im not sure alcoa could keep up with oakland but who knows? I think they are special this year for sure. maybe best team they have had that I am aware of. I wish they would just play up and get it over with. I think maryville/alcoa sounds like the best HSFB game in TN. I need to get over there one day and check it out.
