Interview with St John Bosco Head Coach Jason Negro

Recommended Posts

Great interview with Coach Negro.  I think what I like most about him is that he is gracious - win or lose.   He doesn't get hung up on winning streaks or making sure hes playing a beatable opponent.   He just likes to take his show on the road.  I will bet that both SFA and The Bishop  will be on the schedule in the next 3-4 years.   STA owes Bosco a return visit, maybe for the TL vs USA next year.

Coaches Negro and Rollo both represent the Trinity league very well.  You can tell why those programs are so successful once you listen to them speak about HS football.

Enjoy!!

This was a great interview. It was nice to get a look into the Bosco culture and how they view all of this hsfb world. I agree with him that there’s so much more to learn from these traveling experiences than just a football game.

Hopefully these games with Bosco, Liberty, SFA, and Jones will start to get more Texas teams wanting to join into the mix. It’s incredibly fun to watch even if it may look like a mismatch.

All in all, I still want them to lose to Allen, but it’s hard not to want to root for them for some reason.

I really wish them the best this year.

Great summary. Found the IMG stuff interesting, and I wasn’t aware of the CIF rules against playing them. Interesting to know the reasons behind it(basketball he said) and I get that.

For me, the transfer issue was a little light but I get it. He explained it overall with saying people should be able to do what they want(paraphrase for sure) and that’s fair.

I’d bet some of the teams in SoCal feel similarly to SJB, and the way they’ve been able to attract players as he alluded to IMG. It’s all about your perspective and place in the pecking order. That’s my opinion and guess though.

Thought his explanation of giving the kids the experience of travel was TREMENDOUS and I agree with him. I’ll bet a lot of the players have more memories learned more, and good experience from the trips with their teammates than they do of the actual game(although that’s important as well of course).

Very engaging personality and hard not to be impressed IMO. Thanks again for putting together!

Thanks guys.  We enjoy bringing you this unique content.  And thanks for the positive feedback instead of complaining about everything.

It’s not a complaint but an observation:  The camera adds 10 pounds.
