With 4 min left and the game long since in the bag, MD had blanked SFA and was up by 4 scores. With 4 min left, DV was fighting for its damn life. Some more inconvenient facts. DV had a 5-star senior QB and 5-star senior WR playing. They damn well better have had better offensive numbers than MD’s 3-star QB playing in his fourth game ever at MD, in an offense far more complex than anything DV runs, without both his 5-star WR1 AND his 5-star RB1. We MD fans are just as frustrated by the relatively slow development of our passing game, but since football is both an offensive and a defensive game, we know that the scoreboard at the end of the game is the ultimate gauge of how successful the team was, and the MD scoreboard looked vastly different than DV’s the whole damn game. That is all.

I think it’s more the kids are special. (And the school, of course, for the life-changing difference it’s making in their lives.) With better coaching, those kids are taking scalps…

And if MD’s WR1 and RB1 were available, yada, yada, yada. No fumble on the 1 and it’s even more lopsided. We agree to disagree. I have always admired SFA’s heart, though. Yes, they were better under Biff, but their tenacity has been rock solid consistent. Pretty impressive, actually, for a bunch of teenagers who could easily get discouraged with the losses that come with the meat grinder schedule they play. Respect.

Basha’s not chopped liver, though. #2 in AZ according to CP, and a solid program recently. But to your point, a T25 team shouldn’t be holding on for dear life against them at home.

I didn’t see the game, but I bet it was a LOS issue. MV looks good til they meet teams with better lines. Which is why they never have been a threat to MD or SJB, and why they won’t be this year, either.
