  1. Last time I saw Massilon play it was at Massilon and their coaches also served as the refs.
  2. Are these Hawaii games being played with all the turmoil going on, especially with travel being an issue?
  3. Gotta run it by MC people. I'm pretty sure I've seen that the current RB Dupree may be the best.
  4. Guy I went to school with apparently just got hired as Football Operations Coordinator at IMG. Better stay away from home. We're not sending our QB.
  5. Clearly. But seriously, half those schools are getting a running clock put on them in 7A or 8A.
  6. May have to make the drive or it might be more economical to stream it. Or I never priced flights to StL, might be cheap... night in St. Louis ain't a bad idea 🤔
  7. ESL vs MC week 1 @ Illinois State should be a doozie
  8. After a couple weeks off... Mt. Carmel had a comeback win over Loyola 42-37 yesterday to solidify their #1 ranking in the state. Loyola held a 24-14 lead at half. Playoffs, you wanna talk about playoffs? The brackets are out. Mt. Carmel looks like the heavy 7A favorite. Typically I would take the field over any one team, this year I'll take the Caravan. On theirnside of the bracket there may be a fee possible stumbling blocks: rematch with Bro. Rice, St. Charles North who beat MC in 2018 playoffs, Prospect and their prolific QB... Can't forget about the defending champs Wheaton North. 6A looks to be a collision course between Simeon and ESL in the lower bracket, with the winner odds on favorite to take home the hardware. But as last year showed, you never know. Last years champs didn't even make the playoff field. In 8A you have favorites Loyola and Lincoln Way East who are on opposite sides of the bracket despite Loyola's loss yesterday. Look for possible challenges to either team throughout the bracket. I would say LWE is more likely to lose than LA prior to the finals but both are favorites to make it. LWE needed overtime Friday to defeat lowly Bradley. My reg season final top 10: 1. Mt. Carmel 2. Loyola 3. Simeon 4. Lincoln Way East 5. East St. Louis 6. York 7. Hersey 8. Prospect 9. Glenbard West 10. St. Charles North
  9. Games of Interest; we got a decent amount this week. Geneva (5-1) @ Batavia (4-2) Plainfield North (6-0) @ Minooka (5-1) Lincoln Way East (6-0) @ Homewood Flossmoor (4-2) York (6-0) @ Hinsdale Central (3-3) Br. Rice (3-3) @ Joliet Catholic (5-1) Simeon (6-0) v Kenwood (4-2) Downers Grove North (5-1) @ Glenbard West (5-1)
  10. Week 7 rankings 1. Loyola (6-0)[2] 2. Mt. Carmel (6-0)[1] 3. Simeon (6-0)[3] 4. Lincoln Way East (6-0)[4] 5. East St Louis (4-2)[6] 6. Hersey (6-0)[7] 7. Bolingbrook (4-2)[8] 8. York (6-0)[NR] 9. Prospect (5-1)[9] 10. Glenbard West (5-1)[5]
  11. Had some unexpected scores last night Loyola 28 Marist 17 - 1st time someone was competitive with the Ramblers. Mt Carmel 28 Br Rice 21 - 1st time someone was competitive with the Caravan York 17 Glenbard West 13 - wasn't expecting this one Maine South 23 Glenbrook South 16 - closer than expected Bolingbrook 43 Homewood-Flossmoor 36 - closer than expected
  12. Top games Loyola (5-0) @ Marist (3-2) Maine South (3-2) @ Glenbrook South (5-0) Glenbard West (5-0) @ York (5-0) Light week
  13. Belleville West is the worst team on their schedule. Edwardsville is the only remaining chance for a somewhat competitive game in their conference. Then there's Dsmet.
  14. Reason to go further. If all these teams play each other then no rankings are needed, the standings will do. What's the rest of the state like?
  15. Week 6 Rankings 1. Mt. Carmel (5-0)[1] 2. Loyola (5-0)[2] 3. Simeon (5-0)[3] 4. Lincoln Way East (5-0)[4] 5. Glenbard West (5-0)[5] 6. East St. Louis (3-2)[6] 7. Hersey (5-0)[NR] 8. Bolingbrook (3-2)[8] 9. Prospect (4-1)[9] 10. Maine South (3-2)[10] Dropped: Warren due to loss to Lake Zurich
  16. Friday night scores Mt. Carmel 41 St. Ignatius 17 Batavia 35 Glenbard North 6 Lake Zurich 23 Warren 14 (upset) Lincoln Way East 42 Bolingbrook 32 St. Charles North 35 Geneva 20 Plainfield North 24 Yorkville 0 Crete Monee 48 Joliet Catholic 42 (upset)
  17. Week 5 top games Batavia (2-2) @ Glenbard North (2-2) - two teams you expect to be competitive in the post season in a virtual must win. Each has 3 possible losses still on the schedule after this game. St. Charles North (3-1) @ Geneva (4-0) - last two teams undefeated in conference play. Winner is in the cat bird seat followed by the loser, two teams up previously mentioned, defending 7A champ Wheaton North, then Wheaton South. Plainfield North (4-0) @ Yorkville (4-0) - likely the unlikely conference championship game as typical conference champ candidates seem down and these two are up. Bolingbrook (3-1) @ Lincoln Way East (4-0) - after LWE steamrolled Batavia in week 2 this is the next best bet to give the Griffins a competitive game. Raiders have the offensive firepower to do so, but the defense? St. Ignatius (3-1) @ Mt. Carmel (4-0) - Iggy shocked the world when they manhandled the Caravan last season 24-0. Look for MC to exact some revenge.
  18. My IL top 10 for week 5 1. Mt. Carmel (4-0) 2. Loyola (4-0) 3. Simeon (4-0) 4. Lincoln Way East (4-0) 5. Glenbard West (4-0) 6. East St Louis (2-2) 7. Warren (4-0) 8. Bolingbrook (3-1) 9. Prospect (4-0) 10. Maine South (2-2)
  19. And Loyola beat Br. Rice 57-21 this afternoon.
