    Twas a great weekend of football in the state of IL. It went pretty much as expected except East Side and Loyola whom I expected to both be eviscerated considering the quality of opponents' reputation AND considering they have had scrimmages and jamborees and even a game so far, while the IL teams had none 😏 Top games for week 2: Batavia @ Lincoln Way East Bro. Rice @ St. Rita Immaculate Conception @ Joliet Catholic Naperville North @ Glenbard North Warren @ Maine South Bolingbrook @ Simeon CBC (MO) @ East Side

    Its difficult trying to get people to understand this point. We have HS sports media here saying explicitly that playing OOS games puts the team in another stratosphere from other schools in state. Meanwhile the team in another stratosphere didn't win the championship in the 3rd best class.

    There is to be a lot of movement expected in the tiers especially early in the season, right? So, it looked to my untrained eye that Lakota West and X should be in the same tier. Although I am not familiar with Lakota East, maybe thrashing them is an eye opener that erases the come from behind win over X.

    I love ESL. They're my 2nd favorite team to watch and I always go to their games when they come up north, and have gone to their event once. They're fearless and play with aggression. I do my best to give unbiased analysis of the state of football in IL though.

    Theyre going to have to get better protection. LA pass defense is never great. Average at best. But if your QB is getting rocked they can't take advantage.
