  1. Lol no one represents a state, this isn't government. Who's the best? I'm going to typically go with the largest class champ unless the two have played and the smaller class won, which does happen. In IL last year MC 7A edged Loyola 8A by a TD. So despite LA's playoff run being more impressive (8A runner up dismantled 7A runner up) I'd go with MC. But I'm never going to give you #1 if you didn't have to go through any other top state teams.
  2. Lincoln Way East and St. Rita already have a common opponent. It's one of the top 6A teams by the way. LWE 52-12 SR 33-20
  3. Not if you put them in the top 25. Like MC for example played ESL and a team that played MC kinda close.
  4. Could just put ESL, Mt Carmel, Loyola, Lincoln Way East, and let's say York (for good measure) in the top 25.
  5. Carmel got a final 1st down and will be able to salt this one away. Love the heart that ESL showed in their unwillingness to give up.
  6. Flyers get their 1st stop when they stuff the 4th and 1 try then score immediately. Then 2pt good. Flyers down by 3 with 3:30 left.
  7. East Side shows some resilience and strikes back. 2pt no good.
  8. Caravan with their 5th consecutive TD. Flyers can't stop them. 2pt good.
  9. Good old fashioned shootout as ESL counters in about a minute. 2pt no good.
  10. Mt. Carmel responds with another time consuming drive that ends in the end zone. I think that's 4 consecutive TDs.
  11. Don't bury the Flyers yet though. They come out the half and establish the run breaking off bunch play after bunch play until they touch paydirt in about a minute and a half.
  12. Worst part about it is our media does it too. Just counts the D1 offers and ranks based on that. Lincoln Way East destroyed a 6A team littered with D1 prospects this AM 52-12. That said, ESL would have crushed them too.
  13. I keep telling you guys that ESL is closer to 5 than 1. They're good, but we don't know how good since they play 6A and 23 of the top 25 would be 7A and 8A or at least play in a conference where they have to play other top teams in the state.
  14. Caravan with another decent drive and punch it in with less than a minute in the half aided by some offsides calls against ESL. MC does the unconventional and takes a FG off the board and score 7 instead.
  15. Another methodical drive for the Caravan results in a TD.
  16. Zeros after 1. MC drives for a TD. Flyers respond in one play. Tied up.
  17. If a team is competitive with the top teams you can only drop them so far. So yeah if you're the #10 team and you play 1 through 9 you're supposed to be 0-9, you're just supposed to beat 11-14,000. That said, gettin blasted 18-0 and 35-14 isn't what's hot in these national rankings streets.
  18. https://www.shawlocal.com/friday-night-drive/2023/08/22/friday-night-drives-2023-preseason-power-rankings-let-the-games-begin/ Illinois statewide rankings. Not sure if a sub is needed so 1. East St Louis 2. Lincoln Way East 3. Mt. Carmel Chicago area pollsters have Mt. Carmel #1 in Chicagoland and LWE #2.
  19. Gator fans would love the unis lol. They're claiming to be as strong. But they have a tough one next week. I have them as slight underdogs next Saturday. I hope some streaming service picks it up. You may be able to find a live broadcast on YouTube if you search correctly.
  20. Is that it for the SFA MNC hopes? Will this taint the ESL win over SFA 🤔
