ITG is mainly a south Georgia publication and has a knack for covering its area, not northern schools. It does give some insight to the "name game" schools in north Georgia but not enough to truly know a team.

You would bet the farm, given the right odds?

I am aware of the comp. poll. It is the only one that matters in Georgia. I am referring to the top 25 4A-7A above, in color. Is that your poll? Newton is not ranked in that poll but Grayson is.

Not in the poll above, unless I forgot how to spell Newton....and I don't think I did. By the way......they are both Rams.

Friday when they travel to Grayson and come out with a win.....maybe then your view will change. It is not about who you played but about how up match up with them, position by position. Different coaching philosophy I guess.

Are you not sold on Newton or do you not realize the talent in that area? I understand if you are naive on this one but beware of Newton. I think they would beat half your top 25 handily.

Been there for 2 decades, so to speak. The GHSFHS, as we knew it back then, has grown into the major source of info on GHSF.....in my opinion.

North Cobb began the season 0-2 with respectable losses to top-10 teams Westlake and Buford. Since then, the Warriors and David Eziomume have turned it on. With Eziomume rushing for 205, 268 and 326 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns, North Cobb has won three straight, its latest victory against No. 8 Milton 42-27 last week. As coaches like to say, Eziomume is going to Clemson for a reason. He’s 6 feet, 1 inch and 205 pounds, and he’s run a 10.84 100 meters and long-jumped 19 feet, 7 inches. Eziomume is GHSF Daily’s Player of the Week. The award, sponsored by Sports Turf, will be presented to him Thursday at his school. New network for high school sports Sunday’s launch of Peachtree Sports Network could mean far more high school sports coverage on TV in the coming years. The network, Gray Television’s newest sports broadcast channel, will debut Sunday on WPCH station 17.2 and on cable station channel 245 for Comcast and Spectrum users. The channel will focus on live local programming and feature teams from multiple sports across the state. Those will include the College Park Skyhawks in basketball, the Atlanta Gladiators and Savannah Ghost Pirates in hockey, the Georgia Swarm in lacrosse and the Atlanta Hustle in ultimate frisbee. The network is partnering with Score Atlanta to broadcast high school sports. The first live sporting event will be the Cartersville-Cass football game Oct. 6. Score Atlanta president I.J. Rosenberg says he envisions additional non-live shows that discuss high school sports in addition to live coverage in sports beyond just football, especially GHSA championship events. “There is an audience not just for live high school sporting events, but shows will feature everything from football to basketball to baseball to soccer and lacrosse,” Rosenberg said. “It will also be a chance to give visibility on the recruiting side to players in all sports, and not just the top players but those that need visibility to advance to the next step to play in college.” Score has been broadcasting games on Peachtree TV for the past five years but will move to PSN to complete its 33-game schedule this year. Score is expected to announce a similar four-game basketball season opener that it plans to televise on the network. The Peachtree Sports Network will begin in Atlanta but plans to air on Gray-owned over-the-air channels in Albany, Augusta, Columbus, Macon and Savannah in the coming months.

That could be attributed to the fact that they are public schools with limited budgets. Our city schools stand a better chance as they do not have to share with a given amount of sister schools. Schools such as Colquitt, affords it by being the school for an entire county. On the other hand, schools such as those from Gwinnett and North Fulton have a higher income per citizen than the average metro Atlanta citizenry, enabling wider parameters due to deep pockets.

Again I agree.....to a certain extent, and that is in line with my previous assessment. Those are few in number. In Georgia, the goal is to play game 15 in the Benz in December..............by an overwhelming majority. The state of Oregon would fit into my category 100%. Some states are just hsfb hotbeds with natural talent and some not so much. Much bigger stage at home in the Dome in December.

I can understand that, being a club team. They are minute in number though. The overwhelming majority of the kids are playing for that elusive state title. I guess when you have no connection to achieve that goal..........

Why? Money?

Comparatively speaking, a state championship is more satisfying. I think most kids aspire towards that goal than to play a top team from out of state.

When considering the top teams in hsfb, they carry no weight in my book.

It does indeed. They are a club team and not a high school team with any scholastic connection to any state affiliated entity.

How are they ranked amongst high school teams in that case? Should we allow Georgia Southern to play in 7A?

IMG is in Florida, isn't it? Recall your definition when discussing Buford or any other school that esembles a mass of talent? Shoe fits?

They will never get there. They are public schools. In Georgia, we are about to return to 6 classes. There will be a minimum of 60 schools per class, in some cases maybe more. The largest class will be adding approximately 15-20 teams. Scheduling will only allow for so many OOS games and we know playing only one or two games will not garner enough consideration, unless you play and beat top 5 teams.

They will represent...........I hope quite well.

Creekside does not fit their criteria for " relevance". I hope they beat Mater. That would shake up all these prognosticators brains to the point of explosion.

And just how many teams are watching, knowing they could match-up great against these highly ranked teams? Over this weekend, some teams on display, ranked rather highly, look like they could easily take a loss. St.Ed's won and looked like they were playing in mud. Point is, names are just names. Teams are playing to their capabilities, the good one's. The others................are not very good. Keep doing what you do. Georgia is now at the national party. Let's see who dances with whom in the near future.
