Friday night results

Lincoln Way East 31 Batavia 16 - LWE jumped out to a dominating 31-0 lead at half and took the foot off the pedal for the 2nd half. Batavia to their credit didn't give up and put some things together in half 2 to make it look decent.

Crystal Lake South 43 Cary Grove 39 - not sure what happened here, but CG is supposed to beat CLS.

Joliet Catholic 23 Immaculate Conception 22 - back and forth game all night, JCA scored late to ice it. IC is the 3A favorite. JCA will be on the 4A short list.

St. Rita 17 Bro. Rice 12 - back and forth rivalry game goes to Rita

Warren 19 Maine South 17 - Warren finally gets over the Maine South hump. Both offenses struggled, but Warren did enough to pull out the W.

Wheaton Warrenville South 10 Neuqua Valley 7 OT - highly ranked NV goes down and loses their highly regarded QB in the process. This result begs the question of how good Simeon may be this year considering the Wolverines took WWS to the woodshed last week.

ESL should be #1

Not until they beat top in state teams. I saw where a ESL guy said they have to pick up these games to prepare for the playoffs otherwise they come up north and get beat. Luckily they'll have the opportunity with Simeon in 6A. Last year it was Cary Grove, and honestly we don't know how good CG was because of their closed conference.

MP will have them in it's T25 next week. You're gonna be way too late.

Yes, the national rankings think ESL sits on a perch atop IL football due to exposure (they play these games) and offer sheets. Thats all good and I applaud them for it. Fact still remains that the on field results haven't shown it against the state's best.

Games of Interest week 3 (its kinda light this week):

Loyola (2-0) @ St. Rita (1-1)

Mt. Carmel (2-0) @ Niles Notre Dame (2-0)

St. Mary's (MO) @ Neuqua Valley (1-1) - NV lost its highly regarded QB this weekend. Despite being highly rated in the preseason we don't know what they will be with the backup

Oak Park River Forest (2-0) @ Glenbard West (2-0)

Creekside (GA) @ East St. Louis (1-1)

Friday results

Loyola 34 St Rita 14 - Loyola jumps out to a 28-0 halftime lead. Reserves for both teams get some good PT in the 2nd half.

Mt Carmel 42 Niles Notre Dame 0 - looks like Mt Carmel and Loyola are on a collision course for week 9 with only Marist looking to give either a game.

Neuqua Valley 21 St Mary's 20 - defending MO state champ goes down to NV breaking in a new QB

Wheaton North 27 Batavia 24 - looks like the pundits were wrong about both these teams as WN is still undefeated and defending their 7A title against Batavia who many pegged as a 7A favorite, who falls to 1-2.

Creekside 10 East St Louis 8 - ESL offense struggled again, but defense continues to play well.
