@GardenStateBaller I give you credit too for being willing to be on an island by yourself thinking IMG is #1.
This is great healthy debate and the reason for forums like this. We all have our own opinions that we will defend.- 1

Cen10 would boat race SJP.

And according to every metric out there, IMG played a tougher schedule than BG. CalPreps, Comp Roll, etc. Pick your poison.
They are comparable. But as mentioned, BG’s SOS is scewed downward because they are forced to play some truly terrible Nevada teams. If you compare only the top 4-5 teams that BG and IMG played, BG had the better schedule.

If that's the case why should MD schedule BG, or SJB schedule STA, or IMG schedule SJP or SFA? "Backing-in" to a MNC will never be acceptable in our rankings. Remember, BG bailed on MD to play LBP! Let the other eight (8) polls sell their souls. #playthebest #anyoneanywhere #nocowardsallowed
The most satisfying OOS game for me has been against Duncanville…… A public school.
MD should schedule games against BG and STA simply because they are good. It’s irrelevant they are private. We should aspire to play the best teams in the country period, not the best private school teams in the country.- 1

As a fan of a power private that #playsthebest #anytimeanywhere, how can you not hold BG accountable for scheduling ALL publics in 2023?
If SFA went 12-0 this season beating all public slappies from the state MD, would you feel the same way? There's no way you would.
It doesn’t matter whether a team is public or private. All I care about is how good they are. Is Cen10 bad because they are public? Are Texas’ best bad because they are public? I don’t take into consideration public versus private when assessing a team’s quality. Granted, the majority of top teams are private. But they are not top teams because they are private.
BG played good teams before they got into their league schedule. Who cares if those teams were public. I don’t hold that against them. Would it have better if Gorman played a private that was ranked lower than Cen10 or Corner Canyon? You make it sound like it would be.

The fact that BG has all wins vs public schools is a joke. How does that equate to a MNC when every other power private did the opposite? Why would you allow BG to "back-in" to a MNC that isn't earned?
Plus check out @misterfootball Top 50 Composite Rankings. SJP is ranked higher than any other team that BG beat. It's fairly simple to understand to those who are unbiased.
If I was biased I would say MD deserves to be the MNC. They don’t because they shit the bed on Oct 13th. BG deserves it. I’m being as objective as possible.

BG has 5 top 150 wins
SJP 1!
Bingo!
BG’s SOS is heavily weighed down by in state crappy teams. Let’s just go with Joe’s premise and accept that SJP is a powerhouse. BG still played better teams than IMG, even if we accept that SJP is better than any team BG played.

And IMG had a better schedule than BG.
I wouldn’t say that. According to your own subjective poll that may be the case based on the ranking of SJP. They had basically the same overall SOS. But Gorman had 2 better OOS wins compared to IMG. Gorman has no control over the fact that Nevada teams overall suck.

And that's where they belong. Again, very rarely will a team with a loss be crowned our MNC. Our criteria has been transparent to all from Day One, including last season.
It is transparent and you say SOS and OOS marque wins are most important. So by your own criteria, MD and Gorman are ahead of IMG who has an absolutely embarrassing schedule for a team of their caliber.

You and I both know that the homer refs gifted that game to MD in the Q4. Watch it again. You and I also both know that it's cowardly to schedule and team and then blackball them after one game. SJB, MD and BG should all be playing IMG annually as evidenced by the national rankings each and every season.
So the refs gifted MD the game? Come on!
Why do you keep placing blame on teams for decision of the CIF to not allow teams to play IMG? CIF made that rule probably because MD scheduled the game. It was enacted almost immediately after it was scheduled, and actually before being played. Fortunately they were still able to play.I’m glad we got the chance to play IMG but I would prefer MD to play real high schools. Next year hopefully we play Gorman and STA. There is not much appetite among team supporters to play academies. Maybe you can schedule us to play St Joseph’s Prep.

@Bodysurf I'm a fan of the Monarchs and this is from my misterfootball spreadsheet. I hope you can read it - if not, let me know and I can e-mail it through this site.
Too small to read. I think this is MDs records. Here is a source.

I’m just asking, who’s the best team? Who can consistently beat MD?
Consistently? That would be Bosco. They are the only team to beat MD since 2015. BG this season and last season could hang with MD.

MD, SJB can't schedule IMG.
FIFY. Last time I checked which was when they could play IMG, MD beat them. And that was arguably IMG's best team.

I don’t give credibility to a poll that has St Joesph #6. I was going by computer polls that have Both Cen10 and Corner Canyon higher than IMGs best opponent which was Ben Davis.
I also use my eyes to judge teams. IMG has a team filled with future college players, yet they play these simple schemes and have the precision of a Pop Warner team.

SOS is our #3 criteria behind 1. being undefeated and 2. having at least one, elite oos win.
By this criteria…. Gorman has beaten 2 OOS teams that are both ranked higher than the best team IMG has beat.

HSFB is way different than college. 16,000+ teams vs 133 in FBS.
It’s the principle. An undefeated team is not automatically better than a team with a loss, or several losses. If your criteria for IMG as #1 is because they are undefeated that is ridiculous IMO.

10 game schedule
8 of 10 games were vs. non Top 100 teams
0 playoffs
Did not play any elites in their own state
No top 10 National wins.
3 point win over SJP (SJP has 0 top 100 wins).
Best win is vs a Minor State (Indiana) team which has no Top 50 wins, and only beat 2 Top 100 teams by 3 points each
eeked out a 3 point win over SFA which lost to SJB by 23 points and Mater Dei by 13 points.

@GardenStateBaller Liberty University is undefeated. Therefore they should be ranked higher than Ohio State and Oregon.

Those were good Servite teams that had that run of championships. The 2021 Servite team was better IMO.
I did some research and something that compares is 2018 Mater Dei. There may be other teams. In their last 3 games in 2018 they …….
Beat 12-0 Corona Centennial in the SS semifinals.
Beat 13-0 Bosco in the SS final
Beat 12-0 De La Salle in the State final

lol. Championship game in the middle of the week 🤦♂️ It’s a disservice to the players and fans.

In Cali the 2020 season was played in the Spring of 2021. MD finished ranked #1 by Massey and Calpreps for what was actually considered the 2020 season.
But we would never claim to have won anything in 2020. IMO if you don’t have playoffs, you can’t claim anything.
