  1. Congrats to Mission who beats Bosco 21-0 in the championship game of the Edison tourney. See you all in the Fall. Be prepared to block and tackle.
  2. Servite must now be second fiddle for Cerritos College and can’t get Friday. Years ago Thursday games were common.
  3. This is a huge move for Los Al. I don’t think one player will make a difference, but they now have one of the best players at this position in the country, which is the position that was Los Al’s biggest weakness.
  4. It is not the NorCal St. Francis. He is transferring to SoCal St. Francis in Flintridge which plays in the Angelus league with Loyola, Crespi, Notre Dame, St Paul.
  5. 100% agree that many schools have 19 year-olds on the team. But there is a big difference in terms of experience between playing 5 years of high school versus being held back in elementary school. In Cali you can't turn 19 before June 15th.
  6. Nobody is being penalized. It’s just that regular high schools won’t play against schools with 5th year players. Like should compete against like.
  7. Since you have more of a clue, how about you telling us the correct Top 25 preseason poll. At this point it is an OPINION and everybody has one.
  8. It’s the present! It’s the future for high school too. Just wait for it.
  9. Not allowing 5th year players protects the kids. I have nothing against 5th year kids if there are circumstances out of their control. If they really want to play sports, they should go to an academy that permits it and plays against other similar schools. I guess I had higher hopes for SFA. Any school with 5th year players should not be playing against ‘normal’ high schools.
  10. In Cali you have 4 years to play 4 years. Once you have gone to school for 4 years, your eligibility is gone. Even if you never played. MD forfeited a game for this reason in 2018. They had a kid who attended the equivalent of high school in Australia for 1 year and then went to school in the US for 4 years. He played a couple of plays in garbage time and it cost us the game.
  11. Really? Bosco was a laughing stock before Negro. MD has been winning championships since the 1950s. I think that qualifies as ‘relevant longer’. Even before the years you are considering, MD played for the championship in 2012, 2013 and 2016.
  12. I think they are on a collision course 😉 MD is getting some reinforcement at WR in Jurrion Dickey. Incoming freshman Jonah Smith is a stud and will be a contributor this season.
  13. Carlsbad has the best QB in the tournament. Julian Sayin can really sling it.
  14. What is more impressive? Beating an OOS team ranked somewhere around #50 on the road, or beating in-state teams MD, Bosco and Cen10 (possibly twice). An OOS game is not the end-all-be-all. I’d much rather that MD played a good Cali team instead of West, Utah.
  15. Okay that may be true. But that does not mean SFA gets a pass on their schedule. It’s a slippery slope if you reward teams because they have a hard time getting games.
  16. Outside of IMG, how many games would you predict SFA will play versus national top 25 opponents? According to my math, MD has better quality and quantity.
  17. How do you figure this schedule being the toughest? MD plays Gorman, Centennial and the Trinity. They could face Bosco and Cen10 again in the playoffs plus another good team like Mission, LosAl, etc. and then state final game. I just don’t see how SFA schedule is tougher by any objective standard, plus they don’t even play in the playoffs.
  18. A SoCal team can put together one of the toughest schedules in the country playing just local teams. You have the economic factors to consider. A school like Poly does not have the program budget to put their team on a plane. Maybe once every few years they can travel to play. Unless they get sponsor support it is incredibly difficult for many of these public programs to travel. Some schools in the LA and San Diego sections have had to get public support in order to send their teams to the state finals in NorCal.
  19. Very few ballers on Earth can match his abilities on any night.
  20. In your own poll you have MD #3 and Gorman at #6, yet you think it will be over at halftime?
  21. I also expect MD and Gorman to be close (within 14 points) simply because Gorman has a stacked team this year. I would be surprised in Bosco v Allen is close. There is too much of a disparity between these teams, at least on paper.
