I agree with you.   I was at the St. Francis-East St. Louis game, which ESL should have won.   I also was really impressed with Christian Brothers that weekend and was really surprised how bad ESL beat them.   The only reason I am hesitant to rank them higher, is that in past seasons they have looked so good early only to fade later.   It will be interesting to see how they fare on the road this weekend in Georgia.

STA being in this position isn't terrible but truthfully Central and Chaminade have looked far more convincing in being the top FL team, at this point I would say Central/Chaminade at 1/2, STA at 3 and IMG at 4

10.   Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy (1-1)

 

Probably would have IMG a few spots lower but not a huge deal

Maybe a bit high but AHP has started to win me over this season but have tough tests remaining with Chaminade and Cardinal Gibbons on the schedule plus the 2M playoffs 

 

 

23.   Miami (FL) Northwestern (2-0)

 

Definitely too high for the moment and will likely be proven when their schedule steepens up

 

 

25.   Fort Lauderdale (FL) Cardinal Gibbons (2-0)

 

This is a good spot in a normal year but Gibbons is a bit down this year, we will see where they stand when AHP plays them in a few weeks 

 

 

29.   Lakeland (FL) (1-0)

 

Lakeland has the talent to be this high but their schedule is horrible for a potentially nationally ranked opponent, you can keep them in off talent but any losses I would recommend dropping them out of the top 100

 

 

40.   Miami (FL) Columbus (2-0)

 

This ranking should get tested this week when they play Tampa Jesuit but honestly both may be a little high 

 

 

48.   Tampa (FL) Jesuit (2-0)

51.   Tampa (FL) Tampa Bay Tech (2-0)

 

Interesting choice, is there something specific about Tampa Bay Tech that you feel justifies them being this high? I have them towards the bottom half of my top 25 in FL

I would have been hesitant of this until this past week, Edgewater seems solid this year and this spot is close to where I would have them

Venice seems down this year and I'm not sure they made a smart decision scheduling SFA this season as that will likely be a smashing. They will likely be a team that will need to be dropped within a few weeks

 

 

79.   Pensacola (FL) Pine Forest (2-0)

 

Pine Forest may be good compared to the teams in 3S region 1 but they haven't been tested yet so it may be early to have them ranked nationally

 

 

93.   Orlando (FL) Jones (1-1)

 

This spot isn't too far off but there are other Florida teams I would have ranked higher

 

 

Overall not too bad on the Florida teams but a few I would have done differently

 

Sanford Seminole should be ranked and if they win over Treasure Coast this week (who's a lot better than their record suggests) I would suggest bumping them at least over Venice

 

Other Florida teams I would keep an eye on would be Osceola, Dillard, Rockledge, Buchholz, Trinity Christian, Cocoa, Treasure Coast and Homestead in the coming weeks as potential teams who could play their way into the rankings

Seminole is right there and your point on Venice is correct.   A 12-11 win over Naples is not that impressive.   I guess the game against Northwestern seem to indicate that they could play at that level.   The Naples game tells a different story.   The next two games should be telling as the play Baltimore St. Francis and the aforementioned Seminole.   Should know something at the end of that stretch.    All of the other Florida teams are on my radar.

Good on the Loyola inclusion. However, I don't think even the biggest JCA fan would put this team there. Maybe last year's.

TCs upset win of AHP last season will always be a regret of mine. We had the oppty to stream it on Flo, but I passed on the oppty. Smh.

1. Despite unpopular opinion IMG is still the best team in Fla. The gap this year is not as large as it was in previous years, but a "healthy" Ascenders squad would be hard to beat.

Thanks, that gives me some insight into Florida.   Agree with you on American Heritage and Jesuit has not fired yet this year, so will be interesting to see if they can kick it up a notch.   Aquinas is so difficult with all the great players they have yet each year they seem to fall short of promise.    Venice played Northwestern well but concerns over the Naples win are there.    The Duncanville-Jones game is hard to measure due to the injuries suffered by two key Jones players.   I am not an IMG hater but the Mami Central was an eye opener for both teams.   The thing about these polls are they change each week and hopefully by the end of the year we will have a better measure of each team.   Again, any insight you can provide me will be considered.   I am not a computer, relying strictly on my eyes and help from other posters.

Miami Central did beat IMG head to head 

 

And people can make all the excuses about the injury but it's one player on a team with over 50 FBS kids and supposed to be the best training and coaching in the country 

 

One player shouldn't cause them to lose to a public school and regardless of IMG talent they won't finish with a top 50 win without beating SFA so to say they should be #1 in Florida is a statement that is made with no foundation or base and is just throwing stuff at the wall and hoping it sticks
