  1. I understand the arguments as to why you are one of 2 polls to rank IMG above BG. That said, if your the national championship came down to IMG vs. BG then I am confused as to how BG is ranked below SJB and MD based on your criteria. I look at common opponents Cent10 where SJB barely pulled out a 1 point win and MD won by 2 td's---BG won by 4 Td's. I also look at the fact that the SJB and MD were beaten during the year in ways inconsistent with top billing---SJB by then unranked Kahuku and MD losings in convincing fashion to SJB 28-0. In addition to BG, I think Desoto, IMG and CM all have legitimate claims, but MD and SJB are probably behind all those schools as the best 1 loss team in the nation. There were some questions raised concerning BG's defense, but BG gave up less points against Liberty over 8 quarters than SJB did over 4. On a side note, I don't think OOS wins is compelling given that BG was limited by state rules to 4 OSS games.
  2. No real surprises. Suspect they will remain #1 in ESPN, MAxPreps, SI. They also pickup the nod from Fox Sports Radio
  3. I thought cal preps was skewed and I know Texas plays good football, but 9 of top 20 coming out of the same state seems really off.
  4. I watched the interviews---thanks for posting the link. Great to put names to faces and to get some insights into the thought process.
  5. Now we are getting somewhere. Blue star is also a one man show as far as rankings, but other sources such as USA Today, ESPN and SI claim to take more than a single opinion into account, max-preps likewise claims to be based on ‘staff’ ranking implying more than one opinion is involved. A group isn’t necessarily more reliable than an individual determination and a group is certainly capable of getting it wrong. That said, individual opinions are generally, although not always, more prone to bias influences which tend to cancel out in a group. As a poll of one your individual opinion curries a heavy relative weight in the composite polls— for good or bad.
  6. How many folks? You keep trying to change the question—-First it was many sites are ran by individuals, now it’s all opinion polls are based on opinion. Thank you for pointing out the obvious, but the question remains as to who is behind the curtain. You keep saying “poll’ and “we” and “our”, but won’t say who or how many folks you are referring to…is it just you?
  7. Not questioning your resume, knowledge or dedication—-just asking is the ranking here is a poll or your opinion… simple question.
  8. I am not disagreeing with including the poll, just pointing out that bad data can spoil everything, is like a worm in an apple. BTW, what makes a poll a ‘’national poll” and what makes it worthy of inclusion? For example, why not include White Shoes Top 100? I am assuming it’s because it’s an opinion list with a sample size of 1. This brings me back to a question I still haven’t gotten answered—how many voters in your poll? And before you repeat that this isn’t college football and that several “polls” are ran by lone individuals, please notice that I am not asking who is running anything…I don’t care who runs the poll. What I am asking a simple question: How many voters decide your poll? It’s clearly not a algorithm, is it vote or just the determination of a single knowledgeable source, meaning you?
  9. You realize simply repeating the same arguments doesn’t make them any stronger, right? As to composite polls, what SeaShell21 is obviously referring to is a composite which leaves out your poll because, and I am speculating here, it is the outlier as no other poll ranks IMG as highly nor BG as lowly. Earlier you were touting “quality over quantity’’ —-same is true with polling, hence excluding a clear outlier might actually make a composite more reliable rather than less—whether that outlier be your poll or, for example, cal-preps which you have argued has a bias toward Cali teams. Simply put, including bad data in a composite does not enhance reliability.
  10. True, but not exactly apples to apples--the west coast teams were virtually out of the mix due to CoVid. Many a truncated HSFB season. MD played just 5 games, SJB 6 and BG 2.
  11. Composite rankings Number ranking IMG over BG----just you Number of games won (not counting forfeits) --- IMG 9 BG 11 Massey SOS BG 14th (57.32) IMG 32nd (52.92) SJP 123rd Cent 4th
  12. I know there is ongoing debate, but I happy this forum exists and would be the first to congratulate IMG on the thier undefeated season. Hopefully the Broward pre-season games get worked out for next year to give us all a chance to see what's what. I only wish CIF and NIAA were opened about play schedules.
  13. I think the attempt here is to mis-educate, but I appreciate your effort. As I said before, the "vast " reference misleading---the only instance where 5 of 9 might be described as a "vast" majority is by someone trying to sell something. The question being avoided is not who manages the polls, but rather how many voters participate---are you saying that 5 polls you cite are single voter? I suspect this isn't the case, hence the need to switch the narrative from number of voters/participants to number of mangers/creators. If you are the only voter in your poll just say as much.
  14. Avoiding the question doesn't answer the question....does "sole proprietor" mean single voter? If so just own up to it. That said, if your poll is single voter why keep referring to "our poll"? As to "vast majority", the term is misleading when what you are talking about is only a handful of polls total. Take algorithms out the mix ( CalPreps, Massey, HSFA(?)) that leaves 6 National polls---Blue Star is a single, your poll might be---that leaves Max-preps, ESPN, USA today and SI. Is your claim that MP, ESPN, USA Today and SI are all single voter? Otherwise, while I appreciate your zeal and having this forum as a marketplace of ideas, I am not seeing your "Vast majority" claim.
  15. Not really---SOS on Cal-preps is virtually indistinguishable and doesn't consider win margins. Gorman won games by average of 37 points, IMG by 26. Also, IMG played a short season with no playoffs which is easier to sweep. These are but a few of the reasons that yours is the only poll to rank IMG ahead of BG.
  16. SJP may be great---but their SOS schedule is outside the top 100 per Massey and not much better in Cal-Preps. It's a little silly to chastise BG for beating Cent. and Corner C. but laude IMG for beating a team whose top win is against Arch Bishop Spalding. As to composite rankings, I am guessing that they will not support ranking IMG at #1 and yours will be the only poll where IMG ranks higher than Gorman---What was you said before? Pick your poison they can't all be wrong.
  17. I wouldn't be too quick to point to Massey for back-up---that had IMG all the way down at #8. SJP, the big IMG win you keep pointing, to was ranked #25---lower than either Centennial or Corner Canyon.
