I understand the arguments as to why you are one of 2 polls to rank IMG above BG. That said, if your the national championship came down to IMG vs. BG then I am confused as to how BG is ranked below SJB and MD based on your criteria. I look at common opponents Cent10 where SJB barely pulled out a 1 point win and MD won by 2 td's---BG won by 4 Td's. I also look at the fact that the SJB and MD were beaten during the year in ways inconsistent with top billing---SJB by then unranked Kahuku and MD losings in convincing fashion to SJB 28-0. In addition to BG, I think Desoto, IMG and CM all have legitimate claims, but MD and SJB are probably behind all those schools as the best 1 loss team in the nation. There were some questions raised concerning BG's defense, but BG gave up less points against Liberty over 8 quarters than SJB did over 4. On a side note, I don't think OOS wins is compelling given that BG was limited by state rules to 4 OSS games.

No real surprises. Suspect they will remain #1 in ESPN, MAxPreps, SI. They also pickup the nod from Fox Sports Radio

I thought cal preps was skewed and I know Texas plays good football, but 9 of top 20 coming out of the same state seems really off.

Now we are getting somewhere. Blue star is also a one man show as far as rankings, but other sources such as USA Today, ESPN and SI claim to take more than a single opinion into account, max-preps likewise claims to be based on ‘staff’ ranking implying more than one opinion is involved. A group isn’t necessarily more reliable than an individual determination and a group is certainly capable of getting it wrong. That said, individual opinions are generally, although not always, more prone to bias influences which tend to cancel out in a group. As a poll of one your individual opinion curries a heavy relative weight in the composite polls— for good or bad.

How many folks? You keep trying to change the question—-First it was many sites are ran by individuals, now it’s all opinion polls are based on opinion. Thank you for pointing out the obvious, but the question remains as to who is behind the curtain. You keep saying “poll’ and “we” and “our”, but won’t say who or how many folks you are referring to…is it just you?

Not questioning your resume, knowledge or dedication—-just asking is the ranking here is a poll or your opinion… simple question.

I am not disagreeing with including the poll, just pointing out that bad data can spoil everything, is like a worm in an apple. BTW, what makes a poll a ‘’national poll” and what makes it worthy of inclusion? For example, why not include White Shoes Top 100? I am assuming it’s because it’s an opinion list with a sample size of 1. This brings me back to a question I still haven’t gotten answered—how many voters in your poll? And before you repeat that this isn’t college football and that several “polls” are ran by lone individuals, please notice that I am not asking who is running anything…I don’t care who runs the poll. What I am asking a simple question: How many voters decide your poll? It’s clearly not a algorithm, is it vote or just the determination of a single knowledgeable source, meaning you?

You realize simply repeating the same arguments doesn’t make them any stronger, right? As to composite polls, what SeaShell21 is obviously referring to is a composite which leaves out your poll because, and I am speculating here, it is the outlier as no other poll ranks IMG as highly nor BG as lowly. Earlier you were touting “quality over quantity’’ —-same is true with polling, hence excluding a clear outlier might actually make a composite more reliable rather than less—whether that outlier be your poll or, for example, cal-preps which you have argued has a bias toward Cali teams. Simply put, including bad data in a composite does not enhance reliability.

True, but not exactly apples to apples--the west coast teams were virtually out of the mix due to CoVid. Many a truncated HSFB season. MD played just 5 games, SJB 6 and BG 2.
