Miramar has 4 shutouts on the year beat a very good plantation team & won by 42 last week & now currently shutting out a western team on the road who was considered a 4M contender.

but people sleep on (6-1) soon to be (7-1) Miramar because Dillard beat them (35-7)

Actually people probably sleeping on Miramar because before tonight they had only beaten 1 team above .500

  2. I see Cajun chump on the other site whining about Tampa Bay Tech inclusion yet was trying to say that Tallahassee Lincoln was a "good" team

Some people should really leave Florida to the experts and shut their mouths

Btw Lincoln just lost by double digits to sub .500 Rickards last Friday and likely cost themselves the district championship

Why is that?  As a CA fan, I'm ignorant, but curious, as everyone seems to agree on that.

There were 2 major factors that allowed the panhandle to get so good in the 70s and 80s which led to several teams having sustained runs of success and even into early to mid 90s and that was the way teams back then played based on running game and big offensive lines which Is where the teams from Tallahassee to Pensacola thrived on

The other factor was before the open transfer movement statewide the zoning were strict but because of there being several military bases out in that region families would get moved and stationed out there so it was a long-term exception to the strict player movement

But as the game moved to spread offenses you started seeing metro areas get better as speed became the priority which is not the strong suit

So basically the game changed and the panhandle fell behind the Jacksonville and SFL areas and Orlando Tampa ect

Yes. If you take out the top FL, GA, CA and TX teams what prominent teams are left to schedule?

Maryland/DC (WCAC), Bishop Gorman, St Louis (typically good even if they fell off this year), AZ (Chandler vs IMG would be a good one), NJ Privates (Don Bosco or Bergen Catholic)

I probably missing some since I haven't followed national level as close this year but there are definitely teams out there that on the top level should be capable of playing IMG

Tracking them all, and you are correct in your concern with Pine Forest.   The schedule is not loaded with the exception of Niceville, but it is the Florida panhandle after all where there is not a lot of competition.    Shame that they don't venture into Alabama for some games.

The biggest problem with Pine Forest and those panhandle teams typically is when they play a panhandle only schedule their SOS is reliant on how good the panhandle is that particular season and it typically is one of the weakest areas in Florida

  6. 2 minutes ago, GardenStateBaller said:

The power privates will always have a ranking edge since their SOS will always be higher than most pubs.

Yeah but In the case of IMG their SOS isn't on par with what it was in past seasons

Are you telling me of all the power privates in the top 50/100 in the country the only teams at that level they can get is SFA and public Miami Central?

SFA and IMG are the most feared teams in America when it comes to scheduling. They cannot be blamed or penalized in any way for the quality of their annual schedules in this respect. Doing such would allow the cancel culture to prevail. And nobody wants that.

SFA was able to schedule several nationally ranked teams

Chaminade was able to schedule one of the best non conference schedules in the country

AHP has a great schedule and resume

How do all of them get great teams throughout the schedule but IMG can only get 2 teams inside the top 50/100?

IMG generally has a good schedule so why would the schedule have suddenly dropped this year but not any year prior, it's not like teams just suddenly realized how loaded IMG is, they have known for years!!

All HSFB polls are unique and they each have their own, distinct nuances. That's why no two will ever be exactly alike. And that's a good things at this level.

But all polls typically during the season separate good teams from great teams by comparing the resume and wins

That's through stuff like SOS and ranked wins which is used by ALL ranking outlets including you which you have used to justify several teams including SFA at the #1 spot for example

It's also how a team like Mater Dei is valued higher than say for example TCA, because Mater Dei has a stronger SOS and more nationally ranked wins even though both are undefeated from a power state

  9. I also would keep an eye on Buchholz vs Bartram Trail this week, both are undefeated. Buchholz schedule is okay and same with Bartram but Buchholz is coming off a 12-2 season and considering I saw them play last year and this year they look to be as good as the team a year ago but Bartram Trail has looked better against a few common opponents this year and I actually put Bartram Trail one spot ahead of Buchholz heading into the week as I could see a potential for Bartram Trail to win that game and the district title

In terms of the Florida teams Pine Forest is way too high, only win so far this year is over a Niceville team that barely escaped 3-5 Chiles and 3-4 Crestview

If your looking for a Florida team to replace them I would recommend TCA, Orlando Jones or Sanford Seminole

On 11/18 if IMG loses to #1/2 SFA, they'll still be ranked above STA in this poll. If IMG ever gets upset by an low-ranked slappie, then that's a different story. The latter will never happen, though. IMO MC, C-M, IMG and AHP are all better than STA as of today.

Yeah because outside of Miami Central and SFA their schedule in 2022 is very weak for a national power and so far they are 0-1 in that slate of games

Most years IMG would have even with Miami Central loss probably made up for it with 2-4 top 50/100 wins since then

IMG likely has 0 of those this season and could be heading for their second loss against the only national powers they played this year

And I get IMG will be top 10 in preseason because preseason polls lean heavily into the "on-paper" talent but in terms of resumes and wins what exactly has IMG done in the "2022" season to earn top 10 in the country?

If IMG loses to SFA they deserve to drop out of the top 10 IMO

Can you name any poll currently that has a team with 2 losses and no top 50/100 wins and is still ranked in the top 10?
