Yes I understand Servite didn't report stats, but he ran for nearly 400 yards last season and when you watch Servite's games that number is about right. He's a solid back - Like I said - he didn't show enough to warrant that ranking going into this season, thats all - Lets see if he can double the production.

Being a 3 yr starter doesn't say much for whats become of Servite, from a media standpoint, but I do think they will be better than last years 1-9, how much will be the question.

I guess Servite must have read what we posted. (Not really, but they commented on the OC Varsity article).

Quaid Carr ‘25 has been named to the Top 10 list of OC running backs as selected by the Register. After a sophomore campaign that included 643 yards and 7 touchdowns, he comes in at No. 6.

And unfortunately, That ranking is way too high and really he shouldn't be on that list. He hasn't done enough or shown enough to warrant and a Utah offer doesn't justify it. Thats all he has is breakaway speed, but he never could put it together. Let's see if he can this year, but with what line? That is going to be hard to do.

Well, I'd love to argue with you about this but for some reason Servite never reported any stats from their games last year. They were always slow to report during the Thomas years. Sometimes they were as much as 3 games behind in their reporting, but in 2022 they never DID report any stats. MaxPreps has nothing. The OC Varsity never showed any stats for Servite except what appeared in their game reports for the few Servite games they covered (which was almost none in Servite's all time worst season ever). Not much interest in a 1-9 team.

I just hope Quaid's family kept some stats. Very important for someone who stands to be a 3-year starter for the Friars.

If this transfer happens it is a pretty big deal for MD. People may laugh but the kicker was a glaring weakness on an otherwise flawless team next season. I don’t know much about this kid other than he was on the Calhisports all-state sophomore team, so I assume he is good. Even if he is average, it’s a huge improvement.

What a coincidence! What are the odds? 🙄

I'm not sure if the opening game for Servite is Silverado of Las Vegas, or Silverado of Victorville.

It's Silverado of Victorville. Silverado of Las Vegas would have probably been a better test for the Friars, although, I believe both were hit hard by graduations.

Not true 2021 they played 8 games

Yeah, and I got a kick out of pointing that out. But one of the MD honks replied that MD would end up playing way more games than Servite anyway.

2021 Servite played 13 games; Mater Dei?... 12 games. 😛

Yes Sammy knows and was pissed off when he found out.

SP schedules Amat and Servite in '23 then fires a great man/coach who did very well considering the talent pool he had to work with.  CIF runner up in 2019, 5 playoff appearances and 3 league championships in 10 years.   Pretty darn good resume.

Sammy thinks the AD is on a power trip.   Principal is all about Fund raising.  Sammy thinks the Principal (non SP guy) wants a coach who can fund raise better.

Yeah, I agree that he has done pretty darn good work. Certainly not a record to be fired over. I was sure there had to be more to it. I'll bet Servite could find a place for him.

  8. The St. Paul Swordsmen of Santa Fe Springs California are searching for a new head football coach after they let Swordsman alumnus Rick Zepeda go.

Zepeda was hired at St. Paul in 2013 and compiled a 55-51 overall record. In addition to reaching the CIF-SS playoffs five times, the Swordsmen won three league titles during Zepeda’s tenure. In 2019, they advanced to the CIF-SS Division 5 championship game, where they lost to Aquinas, 21-16.

St. Paul was 4-6 this past season and missed the playoffs. But a year prior, the Swordsmen were 8-3 and shared the Angelus League title. They lost to Upland in the first round of the Division 4 playoffs that season.

I wonder if Sammy Swordsman is interested. 🤔

They played BG the same year BG played CH.

BG whipped them pretty good and SJB won the title that year in California.  SJB had already doubled down on recruiting but was in the infancy stage compared to now.

The leadership in the CIF is weak or they simply do not care about kids to allow such unfair competitive advantages for privates that are willing to give some of the following if not all for some players (free tuition, transportation, housing with host family, NIL)

Only complete dumbass fools would compare the above to public open enrollment

I actually agree with all of that except the free tuition part. After all, aren't all public schools free?
