Iron Sharpens Iron. Serious question. Why do all the other power privates around the USA step up year in and year out to schedule elite competition EXCEPT your state? Honestly, why did they all stop playing teams like BC, DBP, GC, Byrnes, Lakeland, DLS, Hamilton, etc.
Kudos to Moe and Benedictine for stepping up and scheduling GC and DMC in 2022! Hope fully, this tide is turning for the best.
The last time Eds played SJR was just a simple intro that I made which included BC
i think unless there was a 2 year commitment they feared not having enough opponents each year
also the harbin points Ohio ‘s system for playoff qualification & seeding precluded some OOS games
im with you sharpening the iron & entering the playoffs battle tested
as I mentioned to you some 8+ months ago now 12 teams out of 17/18 per region make the playoffs so should open more opportunities for you since an extra loss does not mean anything but being battle tested.

As of late they've prefered to host OOS games vs Canadian teams. I'm doing my best to reverse those trends.
Come on you know OHSAA by laws
an Ohio team may only travel once per calendar year to a non contagious state
Once= SUCKS !

If a power private is going to play a public, I'd prefer MC, DV, Saguaro, Cen10, etc. Better than Canada, though! #progress #reggidsux
They lost OOS to Chandler by 3 so not bad
you know the ridiculous OH rules but yah better than b4

Ed’s # 1 Calpreps 2010 # 5 in 2014
after that the rankings became suspect
They became suspect since the 2 states NJ & OH did not recruit or receive the gift

Ed's finished #20 in America last season. That's elite.
Here's their final rankings the seasons the Eagles lost to NJ: #69 when lost to DBP in 2011; #5 when lost to BC in 2014; #5 when lost to SJR in 2015.
Ed's is still elite. Or are they? We'll never really know until they start schedulling Tier One teams again.

The Top Ohio teams should not be scheduling Tier 1 teams. But they should be scheduling Tier 2 teams such as Hamilton AZ, The Bishop, Chandler AZ, Top Utah and Top 5-10 Texas, CA and Fla teams. Even a WCAC team would be a good match
Since there are only 5 tier one teams good point

Won't happen. Other than LaSalle, none of the OH elites will schedule Tier One teams.
The last time this happened was 2011-15 when NJ-OH had some of the top teams nationally

You got after me pretty good when St. Ed was dropped to Tier 4 in week 6 or so. At the end of the day You were right. The rest of Ohio seemed to struggle week to week.
Tough to gage teams from different regions
i remember in 2018 after Eds won state you moved them to tier 2 because you said they improved greatly and earned it. You were right.

Yep should be a good one and good competition

Ed’s has 6-7 studs coming back next year. One player Michael Kilbane made max prep 2nd team defense 2023 while Ben Robeck 2024 made max prep 2nd team offense 6’7” 320 with a slim belly. Ohio State & Ryan Day were in to see them. Both have 30 offers including Penn state, Michigan & Cincinnati. Ohio state , Bama & Clemson should hurry.
the other 5 have MAC & Big offers and much interest
their key like most teams will be QB but junior to be looks promising

Working on a nice OOS game for LaSalle on 10/14.
Somehow we need to change the OHSAA restriction policy and more games could free up

OOS teams recently scheduled by OH blue bloods:
Rock Creek Christian MD
Clarkson Football North CAN
Beacon Hill HomeSchool VA
West Toronto Prep CAN
Credit where credit is due: LaSalle hosted IMG; Elder hosted Clearwater Academy FL; Iggy hosted DeMatha MD
They also played TCC, Iggy, Hoban, Elder & Moeller
Clarkson not as bad as some think
big game against BS was canceled- don’t ban me 😂
make some games happen- you are fully aware of the OOS restrictions

The top OH teams continue to seek guaranteed wins vs inferior OOS competition rather schedule the elites. Moe is stepping up this year nicely by taking on Good Counsel in our Ironton Classic.
GSB,
make it happen. 12 out of 16 teams make the playoffs. Who cares about some losses. Prepares you for the playoffs.

Last couple of years it seemed like Ohio was down compared to other areas of the country. The top ranked teams kept losing.
I took this as sign of parity where the talent was evenly dispersed resulting in no super teams that would be above Tier 3.
St. Ed has been the most consistently good, but even they struggled and have not had marquee wins that I can think of without checking.
Now that Ohio is scheduled to play a better OOS schedule it will give more visability and basis for The Tier placement. Last years low Tier placements made the Ohio guys salty. In retrospect St.Ed probably should have not dropped below Tier 3, but we’re sucked down due to the performance of the other top teams.
Sammy,
if Eds was below tier 3 last year then there are maybe only 20 teams in the top 3 tiers. Not sure there are 20 teams that would score more than 21 points on them last year.
Everyone said X, UA and Springfield had the best D in Ohio but in the end it was about the E!they only lost one game in OT
respect your thoughts😀

agreed a bunch of good programs here. More games like these should happen.
