Bergen Catholic (Oradell) was among the victors, beating Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey) 45-0 to capture its second straight Non-Public A title. That victory helped the Crusaders to the No. 1 ranking in the final New Jersey MaxPreps Top 25. Bergen Catholic bounced back from a 31-7 home loss to the Don Bosco Prep in September to put together a dominant state championship performance. While head coach Vito Campanile's offense was running and passing for 451 yards, the Crusader defense held Don Bosco Prep to 119 total yards and seven first downs. Dominic Campanile and Jack Duffy threw for 207 yards and a touchdown collectively in the championship contest. Sophomore Quincy Porter reeled in five passes for 106 yards while Saeed St. Fleur ran the ball for 157 yards and a pair of scores. Led by MaxPreps New Jersey Football Player of the Year Micah Ford, Toms River North (Toms River) outscored Passaic County Tech (Wayne) 28-7 in the Group 5 state championship game to move into the No. 3 slot in the final rankings. Ford accounted for three scores after throwing and running for 226 yards in the title game. Caldwell (West Caldwell) ran its winning streak to 28 games as the Chiefs claimed their second straight Group 2 state title to end the season at No. 11. Other state champions to find a spot in the final Top 25 are No. 7 DePaul Catholic (Wayne), No. 8 NV-Old Tappan, No. 14 Millville and No. 23 Woodbury.
