What changed - MD went from handful of D1 kids each year historically- to the roster today that has 30+kids with D1 offers. Kids transferring in for Sr. Year only to transfer back out after Christmas break. With all due respect it’s really not about the strips anymore! I don't mind them playing each other in regular season but playoffs should be split imo

That was a debacle. Dollars was not a starter and Criddell got benched the end of the season. What they did was make a mockery out of themselves and it pissed off many of the MD alumni and boosters. I don’t know if MD has accepted a single Senior transfer after that. This year’s team is almost entirely kids that enrolled as freshman. Nate Frazier is the only impact transfer and he doesn’t start.

For those who can afford it? Like Bryce? Like Amon-Ra? Like CJ? Or a long list of other guys? For those guys? Um, nobody. Are some football players receiving tuition assistance? Undoubtedly. If they meet the stringently monitored criteria for tuition assistance. Just like lots of the students I went to school with at MD who didn't play sports. If they prove they qualify for assistance, they can receive it. If they can't, they don't. How is transportation being handled? Who cares? How do kids from Crenshaw get all the way to Westchester to play hoops? Because LAUSD allows it, the district finds a way to get them there. Because there's absolutely nothing prohibiting private schools from providing transportation, MD gets them there. What are the boundaries for private schools like MD? Did you really ask that question? Ooh, the "infamous" Dollars and Criddell situation! Never happened before, and hasn't happened since. And yes, the three stripes matter just as much as they always have. Not sure what the hell strips have to do with anything, though. Such grasping at straws. Why do I bother?

And yes, the three stripes matter just as much as they always have. Not sure what the hell strips have to do with anything, though. Such grasping at straws. Why do I bother? You bring up some good points. The answer to financial ad is important and complicated imo. Probably ALL private schools offer financial aid. Many (maybe most) offer need based aid and extra curriculars are not considered. That is not necesarly true for ALL provate schools though. I can't comment to MD but think I have a fairly decent grasp of many schools. I know that some schools, it may help in the admission as some schools are looking for diversity and that is one way to help achieve it. For others, it may be a negative as some schools are looking at the bottom line and getting full payers. In regards to transportation, that's over blown imo. Many of the better academic schools around the country have students traveling a good distance and it's not uncommon for schools to provide transportation or facilitate car pools for students living in similar areas. The way the article talking about that was written looks bad, but I'll bring up Harvard Westlake Academy in CA. A non-topic for this board for football, but one of he best schools in the country at ~$50K/year. They draw students from over 155 zip codes, and also offer bus service. tldr - schools offering financial assistance doesn't mean thy are cheating. Not all financial aid is administered the same at all schools. Edited September 18 by pied
