Desoto in the playoffs, beat at the time a top 3 team in Texas. Their playoff path was decent. (It had 3 x top 10 teams in the bracket: SLC, Guyer and Katy) Imo the only teams that would have beaten Desoto if we had a single 6A playoff was DV or NS. Steeler01
NS played with a backup and lost Samples played with a backup with one week of preparation in their 2nd meeting or he'd have a SC already

Never mind their impact on offense. Banks was one of their best LBs, no coincidence he’s one at TCU now. If we’re talking total impact they lost one of their top OL too early in the year, had just picked up an offer from lsu. Both at full strength that game wasn’t a gimme b/c JJ didn’t play. Could very well be the same result but higher scoring folks act as if parsons played bad. This stat is key: DV NS Punts-Avg 2-32.0 2-30.0 they only punted twice, so where was JJ going to improve on that stat much? they didn’t have the possessions to dominate that game Edited December 18, 2022 by Horsefly

You think the LB stops him the next year? The back up put up 21 points and couldn't sustain drives in the 2nd half. That's what happened. That defense tired Banks if I recall right, barely played that year because of injuries Edited December 18, 2022 by Steeler01

Like I said, it’s speculation but evans and banks impact was also on defense if needed. Having JJ wasn’t a gimme win if both were at full strength still I asked, where was JJ going to make up possessions when DV only punted twice? (Conversely, last night NS punted 7 times. That’s an area where Bailey could have made up efficiency in possessions n scoring) Edited December 18, 2022 by Horsefly

The offense with the Frosh couldn't move the ball. That's huge.

Banks was nowhere near as important to the Stangs offense as JJ was to Duncanville. Had the Stangs QB went down and JJ plays. NS loses even with Banks and the other guy. HS football, none of the refs are trying to help the local team in an instate matchup. Refs are bad

Those kids were holding left n right. it is what it is though, just glad DV got the win they deserved
