If there was going to be any letdown for Don Bosco Prep coming off a win against its biggest rival last weekend, those questions were answered in the first half and in the final minutes against St. Peter’s Prep.

The first half played out much the same as it did last week against Bergen Catholic, with Don Bosco riding its dominant offensive line and a defense that allowed a score before settling in, leading to a two-score advantage.

But then St. Peter’s Prep began chipping away at the deficit in the second half, giving Don Bosco all it could muster, cutting the lead to 28-26 in the fourth quarter. But the Ironmen got two stops when St. Peter’s Prep went for two twice.

And then Logan Bush and the offensive line went to work after recovering an onside kick. Bush iced the game with a 6-yard rushing touchdown as he ran for 196 yards on 32 carries as No. 1 Don Bosco Prep defeated No. 2 St. Peter’s Prep 35-26 at MetLife Stadium on Friday night.
