Archbishop Spalding Question

Recommended Posts

As you know AS is in the MIAA, the same league that is currently "canceling" SFA, and preventing them from scheduling conference games on an annual basis. The MIAA cited reasons like "unbalanced talent level and player safety" as reasons for the boycott. That being said below are the final scores of AS first three conference games this season:

AS 45    McDonogh 0

AS 35    Calvert Hall 0

AS 51     Gilman 0

Question....do you believe AS will be forced to go independent like SFA was? I say NO since AS isn't an predominantly-black HS. What say you?

Nothing to do with race. Everything to do with talent acquisition. SFA doesn’t abide by any transfer policies and actually recruits kids and treats the football program the same way that IMG does. They just do it from a traditional high school.

Spalding just have better talent this year than most of the teams in the class. It’s not about the margin of victory. It’s about not adhering to basic rules in talent acquisition.

If you don't think AS brought in transfers to get this good, you're as clueless as Chris the Balding Banker and @Longtime Observer!

You can’t recruit regionally and sometimes nationally and expect to play in a local league. You recruit nationally, you play nationally. The way it should be.

SFA does NOT recruit nationally. When you're a winner ballers will find their way to you. Just like when DBP was at its peak, families from Ohio and Texas were moving to Ramsey faster than you can say "Stanley the Statboy is a freak." No different than Chris Henry moving to play at MD. No different than the QB from Cali moving to FL to play at MC. You know better.

We own them.  I mean that figuratively, not in a slavery-like sense.

Off the top of my head Carroo (Edison) and and Steele Divitto (Ridgefield, CT) lived 50+ miles from DBP.

Besides Carroo and Divitto, DBPs current QB, Deven Sisler, is from Bayville, NJ, which is 97 miles from Ramsey.

Toal hired Ohio player's father, but then fired him in the middle of the season after a bad loss. The TX kid only lasted a few weeks of camp before heading back home after realizing he couldn't cut it.

Over the years each of the Big3 have benefited from these road warriors. And that'll never change as the desire for a college scholly will always be paramount.

The 3 you mentioned were yrs after 2011.

I think Bosco drew enough talent from the dense area around north NJ.  Sounds like how SFA draws.  Not national.  But there’s a draw.

As you're well aware, the DMV is just like the tri-state area. Several states within a 50 mile radius.

The draw is as follows: 157 D1 players have graduated from SFA over the last five seasons.

That’s 6 more than Bishop Sycamore.

Stay tuned. It's happening....

Yes, unfortunately you’re right.

this is a madhouse and you’re vying for a larger role in management.

fortunately, 99.9% of HSF games resemble what we experienced as kids.

and Bosco is making ranked teams look badly, which carries over to the rankings

Spalding is following the MIAA rule book. They don’t reclass once a athlete starts 9th grade (even for injuries) and interconference transfers must sit out the year they transfer. IE. There where 5 senior interconference transfers this year under MIAA rules those transfers would not be allowed to play.

When teams get to elite-level status, the same rumors and innuendo are always used by their local haters. In the 2018 article posted above the reasons for the boycott cited are "unbalanced talent level" and "player safety."

The article also goes on to state that "every player added has been approved by the MIAA."

I just hope that AS can continue to trend up after Malik graduates. HSFB is better when there are multiple Top 20 teams from under-the-radar states like Maryland. Also, it would be awesome if AS starts scheduling other local, power privates like SFA, DeMatha, GC, etc going fwd.
