HSFA is the best algorithm pollster. By far.

I agree. But does HSFA go deeper than the top 300 teams?

Massey at least ranks all the teams. If HSFA doesn’t rank all teams, Massey would be used if the CIF wants to have playoff determination be computer-based like they did with Calpreps.

It can. Jeff and I have a call tomorrow about taking over where CP left off.

Excited to see @misterfootball weekly Top 50 Composite Poll without CP included!! All we need is for Massey to go down next 😉

We need computer polls! I prefer them to opinion. We just need multiple polls. The Massey rankings are just fine for Cali. It’s when you compare across states that it gets ridiculous, as did Calpreps.

These polls are most important for National rankings. Let the local media/coaches rank and seed their own teams come playoff time. Other than being lazy, it makes absolutely no sense to use the algos for such.

But national rankings are always bogus and mythical. As I said many times, the only thing that matters is championships won on the field. Computers are best at ranking teams from the same state, and even better in the same section because there is ample comparative data.

I have the opposite opinion. IMO it makes the most sense to use computers for local playoffs. Letting coaches and local media decide playoffs is problematic and subject to extreme bias.

LOLOL They're only bogus to those that miss out on Natty rings!!!!

The @misterfootball weekly Comp Poll is as "real" as it gets for all intensive purposes. Nobody does it better.

CP and Massey should only be used for pranks!!

They were also bogus the years that MD won the MNC. It will be bogus this year even in MD runs the table. Perhaps 'bogus' is a strong word but you get my point. Its mythical and there will always be somebody that feels they should have been that team. But that is okay, as it creates things to discuss on boards like this.

Misterfootball is the best comp poll.  While its great at the national level for the MNC, it is irrelevant in terms of what the CIF needs. They need rankings for all teams, not just the top 5 or 6 teams.

The thing I will miss most from CP the schedules of all the games that are played in CA. for each week. It help me to see what that planned on see on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays.

I'll miss mocking its west coast bias on a weekly basis.

I liked calpreps because it would show you all the OOS results broken down by each state. And it had all the schedules. It was one stop shop.

I love it for that as well (not for the actual rankings). It is an intrical part of my poll making.
