Interesting that Good Counsel is 39 here and DePaul 91. I guess head-to-head meetings don't count in determining rankings in this poll. Intriguing new approach to ranking!

Goes back to the best of ten theory. IMO if these teams played ten times, Good Counsel would most likely win the majority to the games. It is not new; it is the way I have always measured teams. How many times in a rematch later in the season does the loser of the first game, win the second one. So many factors go into a one game scenario that to say one team is superior as reflected in the one game is a tough call. For instance, it is hard to imagine that Fort Worth North Crowley could be DeSoto again as everything fell their way in the first game. The season will determine if Counsel is overrated at this point or if DePaul Catholic was underrated. That is the essence of why we rank teams each week to reflect the changes brought out during the season. Stay tuned!!

So what you're saying is it's completely subjective. What would be the outcome if they played again this year, next year, 10 years from now. That's something that's easy to figure out! We can disregard what actually happened between the teams if we feel it goes against what we think should be the case.

I should add that GC is really a class act! After all, they were the ones with the national reputation, not DePaul,. They did DePaul a service by coming up to Wayne to play the game. They could have insisted that if DePaul wanted the game (and I know for sure that DePaul initiated contact here about the game) they would have to go to Maryland to play it. Nor did they become chippy when it became clear they would not win, as some teams do... As I said a class act!

Actually, did not. Watched several other games in addition to trying to secure a playoff spot for the Minnesota Twins. However, I depend on input from people who did to get feedback on the game. It appears that both of you think that DePaul Catholic was not only the better team that day but would be the better team on most days. That information is now in the "vault" which I will carry forward from this day on. I respect what you say and will add it to my considerations in my polling.

Unlike the DePaul-Good Counsel game, this is one that I firmly believe was an outlier. If we were to rank based on a one-time matchup, imagine the daisy-chain generated polls that would result. The Boyle County-St. Edward game is another one that I think could have different outcomes in a rematch. I realize that it was a seventeen-point margin, but find it hard to believe that BC is seventeen points better than St. Edward. But as I have said many times, the season will bear out the truth on both teams.
