Westfield has always played those Indy metro teams tough. I figured one of these years they would break through with a victory.

Of course it was kind of a surprise, but Westfield is a solid program in the state. They appeared in back-to-back Class 6A finals in 2020 and 2021 losing to Center Grove in both games. In the 2021 game Westfield was knocking at the door with a couple of minutes left down 27-21, when an interception in the end zone secured the win for Center Grove. That game could have gone either way. Westfield has a resurgent Carmel team this weekend. After the first weekend of play in our state, it is a tough call to say who the best team in the state is. Brownsburg was impressive in their opener against a Bishop Dwenger team that is not up to par with Saints teams of the past. Brownsburg is at Cathedral this weekend, as the Irish are coming off an impressive win over Ben Davis last weekend. Center Grove hopes to rebound this weekend against a Fort Wayne Carroll team coming off a loss to highly rated Hamilton Southeastern, 21-45, in their opener. That game is not until the 18th of October. I recall watching Center Grove looking just awful against Lakewood St. Edward at Canton last season in their first game and yet they were able to regroup, winning eleven straight before falling to eventual state champ Ben Davis by three in the semi-state. Coach Eric Moore seems to get his teams to improve each week of the season, and they play their best at the very end, when they will need to do to beat SFA.

I had them fourth in Pennsylvania behind St. Joe, Imhotep and North Allegheny. Not sure how much I will move them at this point but think they will be competitive in the Keystone state. St. Joe's Prep would've massacred their B team. Hell, they might've beaten their A team....
