Before, the opponent had to be within 300 miles, but now the opponent can be from anywhere but the venue has to be within 300 miles? Any state that still has this rule is run by morons If the state is hosting the game who cares where they are coming from

The Committee approved modified restrictions on Indiana schools competing against schools from beyond the 300-mile travel limit. IHSAA schools will now be able to participate against out-of-state schools from beyond the 300-mile limit as long as they are in good standing with their state association, the venue is within the 300 mile limit, is and is sanctioned by the NFHS and IHSAA. Also, Indiana schools may now host out-of-state schools in Indiana from beyond the 300-mile limit as long as they are a member in good standing with their own state association and the event is sanctioned by the NFHS and IHSAA. That’s great. There’s always a bunch of very competitive Indy schools. I don’t like that good-standing requirement, as it puts in jeopardy a lot of our home-town favorites here. may we switch NFHS to NHSFB? So, they refuse to travel to a tough environment and will only play in the comfy confines of their own home? Smells a lot like Texas…. To be fair last I checked there is no rule that disallows traveling by TX or GA like Indiana

Smells a lot like Texas…. Please keep in mind that this was a decision by the IHSAA, which is very resistant to any change. There have been some large shakeups in our state recently, like Carmel and Center Grove going independent, that will hopefully drive us to an unrestricted travel rule. This is a step forward, albeit, not what most of us wanted, but a step forward. I think most of the top tier teams in our state would love to travel and compete with the nation's best teams.
